Working Alongside Our Customers From Early-Stage Development to Commercial-Scale Production

End-to-End

We work together with customers throughout the entire process, from initial development to commercial-scale production.

This is SPCI’s main business model, transforming laboratory-stage materials
into products ready for commercial-scale production.

  • Process Design
  • Scale-Up
  • Quality Assurance

Process Overview

SPCI carries out all four stages in-house, from the initial inquiry to commercial-scale production.

Why Choose ODM?

01

Collaboration from the Development Stage

SPCI’s research team works with customers from the early stages of material development.
We review in advance where laboratory conditions may differ during commercial-scale production.

17 years of mass production experience

02

Process Redesign for Commercial Production

We do more than simply replicate a reaction process but review it based on actual reactors and equipment.
The process is then redesigned to improve yield and purity.

Raw material selection, reaction conditions, purification methods

03

Identifying the Causes of Scale-Up Deviations

As the scale increases, heat transfer, mixing conditions, yield, and impurity profiles change.
SPCI identifies deviations using its in-house equipment and analytical infrastructure and establishes process conditions.

26 reactors, total capacity: 76,450 L, 15 types of analytical equipment

04

Quality Assurance Through Final Production

Our team involved in development also takes responsibility for commercial production, helping ensure that the products meet the agreed specifications.
We trace the causes of any abnormalities back to the relevant process stages.

Content, moisture, metal impurities, molecular weight distribution

05

Sharing the Benefits of Improvement

We produce more products in less time using the same raw materials and equipment.
The benefits of reduced process costs are also shared with customers.

Yield, processing time, process stages

06

Securing Time for R&D Personnel

SPCI handles scale-up validation and post-delivery responses to abnormalities.
This allows the customer’s researchers to remain focused on their original R&D projects.

Securing customer R&D time

Scope of Procurement

A customer’s work does not end upon receiving a product; it extends to securing a stable supply of the material.
The difference becomes clear when the scope of procurement is expanded to include ensuring that materials are in a condition suitable for reliable use.

Tasks Traditionally Managed by Customers

  • Repeated testing by development personnel
  • Verification during transfer to commercial production
  • Reinspection and response to post-delivery abnormalities
  • Technical management of suppliers

How SPCI’s ODM Services Contribute

  • Joint execution from the development stage
  • Identification of the causes of scale-up deviations
  • Assessment of specification compliance and tracing of the causes of abnormalities
  • Integrated execution from development through commercial production

Project Examples

These are projects undertaken by SPCI after the customers or overseas suppliers determined that commercialization would be difficult. SPCI successfully scaled up the process and achieved commercial production.

CASE 01

HDPE Polymerization Catalyst

The customer had developed the catalyst in-house but encountered difficulties in scaling up production due to catalyst instability and low yields. Following one year of commercial-scale production development research, SPCI improved the yield and established conditions for the stable production of high-purity products. The catalyst is currently supplied as a key material for the customer’s HDPE plant.

CASE 02

mPP Polymerization Catalyst

The customer had commissioned development to an overseas catalyst specialist. However, the transition to commercial production had been delayed for several years due to supply conditions and productivity issues. Within six months of receiving the request, SPCI completed the development of a catalyst suitable for commercial production and established a process capable of supplying it on more competitive terms than the overseas developer. The project enabled the first domestic production of metallocene polypropylene (mPP).

Petrochemicals, mPP polymerization, developed within 6 months

CASE 03

Post-Metallocene Catalyst for PE Polymerization

Commercial PE production using a post-metallocene catalyst had no previous domestic precedent. SPCI developed a commercial-scale catalyst manufacturing process and achieved the first domestic production of PE using a post-metallocene catalyst.

CASE 04

Catalyst for Elastomer Production

The catalyst had previously been imported, with recurring quality issues. SPCI developed a domestic alternative, improved its quality, and established a process capable of ensuring a stable supply. As a result, the customer can now procure domestically a catalyst that was previously sourced from overseas.

Inquiry Process

A dedicated sales representative is assigned as the customer’s primary point of contact.

When an inquiry is submitted, the assigned sales representative coordinates
subsequent technical reviews and schedule discussions directly with the customer.

We assess feasible production quantities based on available equipment.
Current equipment information is available under Infrastructure → Production Facilities.
